Platform Overview

Modern EDI, from signup

How It Works

From signup to live EDI in six steps

No consultants. No six-month timelines. Most clients are exchanging real transactions within their first week.

👤
1. Create your account

Sign up as a Business (to exchange EDI with partners) or a Developer (to build integrations via API). Your 3-day free trial starts immediately — no credit card required. Verify your email and you're in.

2. Connect your systems and trading partners

Add your trading partner profiles — one for each company you exchange documents with. Configure the transport method they use: SFTP, AS2, REST API, VAN, or an inbound webhook URL. Set ISA/GS envelope identifiers once and they're reused across every transaction.

SFTP • AS2 • REST API • VAN • Webhook

3. Map your data to X12 — no code required

Use the Visual Mapping GUI to define how your data fields translate to X12 segments. Drag, drop, and connect fields between your internal format (JSON, XML, CSV) and the EDI transaction set. Add IF/AND/ELSE logic for conditional fields. Save the map and reuse it across every partner and every transaction of the same type.

No code • Point-and-click field mapping • Reusable maps
🧪
4. Test in the sandbox

Every account includes a full sandbox environment. Sandbox API keys (xp_test_...) submit transactions that are completely isolated from production — no real EDI is delivered to partners, no ACKs are required, and nothing costs you transaction credits. The x12port validator checks every document against X12 structure rules and reports errors at the segment level so you can fix them before going live.

Full sandbox • Segment-level validation • No live traffic
🟢
5. Go live in production

Switch your API key to a production key (xp_live_...) and you're processing real transactions. x12port delivers outbound EDI to your trading partners, receives their inbound documents, and generates 997 Functional Acknowledgments automatically. Flow routes let you define exactly what happens to each inbound document type — store it, forward it, trigger a webhook, or all three.

Production keys • Auto-ACK • Flow routes
📊
6. Monitor every transaction in real time

The Transaction Hub gives you a live feed of every inbound and outbound document across all partners — with ACK status, direction flags, and test/production separation. The Pipeline Tracker shows your entire freight EDI flow from load tender to invoice in one view. Set up webhook notifications so your systems know the moment a document arrives or a partner fails to acknowledge.

Real-time dashboard • ACK tracking • Webhook alerts
