Common Use Cases

  • Carrier sends pickup confirmation and in-transit updates
  • Carrier notifies shipper of delivery completion
  • Carrier flags a delivery exception (delay, damage, refusal)

Key Segments

B10 Beginning Segment — shipment ID, carrier PRO number, SCAC
L11 Reference Numbers — PO, BOL, shipment reference numbers
AT7 Shipment Status Details — status code, reason code, date, time
MS2 Equipment Details — equipment number, equipment type
AT8 Shipment Weight/Count

Transaction Flow

Sent after each significant status change: pickup (X3), in-transit (X6), out for delivery (X1), delivered (D1), or exception (A9). Triggers TMS and OMS status updates.

⚠️
Common Validation Errors

AT701 status codes must match the agreed code list in your carrier trading partner agreement. "X6" (en route) without AT7 date/time fields causes TMS update failures.
